Terms of Use

Last updated: June 14, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of SimpleWOL, including the Alexa Skill, the web portal at www.simplewol.click, and the local Windows agent ("Service"). By using the Service, you state that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms.

1. The Service

SimpleWOL lets users register computers and trigger Wake-on-LAN or, when enabled by the user, local commands executed by the Windows agent. The Service is intended for home or personal use, with low-cost infrastructure and no guarantee of continuous availability.

Remote shutdown depends on the Windows agent installed on an authorized computer. When enabled, it can end sessions, interrupt work, and cause loss of unsaved data. Use this feature only on computers under your control.

2. Requirements

To use the Service, you must:

3. Account, authentication, and keys

Access uses Login with Amazon and tokens issued by SimpleWOL. The Service does not receive or store your Amazon password. You are responsible for protecting your account, devices, install keys, and local computer.

Install keys are temporary, single-use credentials and must be used only on the computer you intend to register. Do not share keys, tokens, configuration files, or complete logs with third parties.

4. Windows agent and EULA

The Windows agent is an optional component that runs locally as a Windows service to maintain a connection with the SimpleWOL cloud, receive authorized commands, and publish technical health signals. Use of the agent is also governed by the End User License Agreement (EULA).

The installer displays the EULA before installation. Technical diagnostic upload consent is separate and collected in the SimpleWOL app: the option starts unchecked and can remain disabled without blocking installation or linking.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Availability, limits, and beta status

The Service is provided "as is" and may have failures, delays, outages, or changes. Limits may apply to devices, commands, diagnostics, agent health events, new registrations, and general usage to control cost, security, and stability.

Observability features, agent events, and diagnostic uploads may be reduced or disabled in the backend without an agent update, especially in case of elevated cost, abuse, operational incident, or mitigation need.

7. Privacy and diagnostics

The handling of personal data, technical events, local logs, optional diagnostics, and retention is described in the Privacy Policy. Use of the Service assumes that you have read that policy.

SimpleWOL does not request Alexa voice recordings or access to personal files. Diagnostics sent by the agent or installer, when authorized by the user, are redacted to remove known secrets and used for support and failure analysis.

Feedback submitted through the portal and transactional e-mails for support, feedback acknowledgement, and license grant or removal may be processed through Amazon SES. Product updates and new feature notifications are optional and depend on a user-enabled preference.

8. Intellectual property

The SimpleWOL name, logo, text, Service code, and related materials belong to the project author or their respective owners. Amazon and Alexa are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates and are referenced only to indicate compatibility.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service and agent are provided without express or implied warranties, including warranties of availability, fitness for a particular purpose, hardware compatibility, error-free operation, absence of data loss, or successful Wake-on-LAN and remote shutdown.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SimpleWOL and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, lost profits, data loss, downtime, work interruption, network failures, misuse, incorrect settings, third-party actions, or compromise of the user's account.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

11. Suspension and termination

Access may be suspended or terminated in case of abuse, security risk, violation of these Terms, legal requirement, operational unavailability, or project shutdown. You may stop using the Service at any time, remove devices in the portal, unlink the Skill in the Alexa app, and uninstall the Windows agent.

12. Changes

These Terms may be updated periodically. The date above indicates the current version. Material changes may be highlighted in the portal or installer flow when they affect the Windows agent.

13. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by Brazilian law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights in other jurisdictions. Questions about these Terms may be sent to contact@simplewol.click.

The Portuguese (Brazil) version prevails over translations in case of conflict.
